  • Monday 5 April 2021 Easter Hats and Egg Decorating For Easter the children decorated hats and brought them in for hat parades. They decorated eggs and we had our annual egg-rolling competition down the field.
  • Thursday 1 April 2021 Free Meals for Kids during Easter The Council is ensuring that regular meals are provided for all children and young people within the borough during school holidays. 
  • Monday 22 March 2021 Easter Raffle Prizes We are holding an Easter raffle in school and tickets are now on sale at £1 a strip. We have a wide selection of Easter eggs and other prizes. There's a picture of them below. We’ve displayed them in the entrance to the school and on warm dry mornings we’ll place them in the top playground. We’ll draw the raffle on Tuesday 30th March.
  • Monday 8 March 2021 World Book Day 2021 Thursday 4th March 2021 was World Book Day. Pupils both in school and learning from home did a variety of activities related to reading and their favourite books. Some children also got dressed up as their favourite book characters.   • Friday 1 January 2021 Postponed re-opening of school January 2021 After directions from the Department for Education, Thorntree school will only be open to those children of Key Workers and those children classed as vulnerable. All other children will be educated via our online learning platform.

  • Tuesday 15 December 2020 School re-opening We have received notification from Danny Thorpe, leader of Greenwich Council, that after contact with the Secretary of State for Schools, all Greenwich schools will now re-open for all pupils until the end of the day on Thursday 17th December. Please see below for the letter to parents:
  • Monday 14 December 2020 Christmas Raffle Draw Today we drew the Friends of Thorntree Christmas Raffle. Three children from Year 2 drew the tickets for us after they had performed in their Nativity Play. Here they are still dressed in their costumes, drawing the winning tickets:

  • Wednesday 9 December 2020 Christmas holiday begins early We have just received notification from the Department for Education that the school must close to pupils on Friday 18th December and use this day as an INSET day. The last day of term will therefore be Thursday 17th December, with pupils being collected at their normal collection times. The Christmas holidays will therefore begin on Friday 18th December.

  • Thursday 19 November 2020 BBC Children in Need Day On Friday 13th November we took part in the BBC Children in Need day. Our staff and children all dressed up as Key Worker for the day and raised £130.
  • Tuesday 10 November 2020 New playground markings During the summer holidays the large upper playground received a brand new coat of fresh tarmac. This was left to cure and during the October half term the new markings were added. It is now fresh and bright with activities to keep the children happily playing during breaks and lunchtime. There is a chess/draughts grid, a number grid, a counting caterpillar and a two-team race activity. Take a look at the photos below.

  • Monday 19 October 2020 Continuation of Learning Plan As a school we have revised our remote learning policy should we encounter bubbles and/or individual children having to self-isolate in the coming weeks and months. We want to be able to offer immediate remote education to all children who are unable to attend school.
  • Sunday 18 October 2020 Attendance & Covid testing advice Please click on the link below to open a letter from Miss Walker explaining the circumstances under which you should to get your child tested for Covid-19 and when there is no need to do so. The letter also explains the reasons for maximum school attendance and what happens should attendance dip below 90%.
