Thorntree News & Events 2024-2025

Here are just a few of the things that happened this school year:

On Wednesday 4th September we welcomed back all our pupils.

Over the summer our sports cage had a new Astroturf surface laid.

During the week of 9th September we held Meet the Teacher sessions for parents and carers of children in all years.

On Friday 20th September children came into school wearing jeans to raise funds for Jeans for Genes Day, as we do every year.

On Friday 18th October FOTA held their Autumn cake sale, also selling secondhand uniform and books. They raised a total of £167.19.

On Tuesday 5th November Year 1 went on a trip to the Tower of London in conjunction with their topic about the Fire of London.

On Wednesday 13th November there was a Road Safety workshop for Reception class.

On Tuesday 19th November Year 5 went on a trip to the Royal Observatory in Greenwich.

On Thursday 21st November we held a Safer Internet workshop for parents.

On Tuesday 26th November Year 4 went to the Queen's House at the Royal Maritime Museum in connection with their history topic around The Tudors.

On Wednesday 27th November Year 2 went to St Thomas' to learn about the Christmas Journey.

On Thursday 28th November  Year 6 children took part in a football tournament.

On Thursday 28th November Year 4 held their class assembly.

On Friday 29th November Trinity Laban came in to the school to do some workshops with Years 4, 5 and 6.

On Monday 2nd December the whole school enjoyed a performance of Beauty and the Beast.

On Friday 6th December FOTA organised our annual Christmas Fayre. There were games galore, classes selling things they had made, lovely refreshments and Santa came to visit.

On Tuesday 10th December our KS1 classes put on a performance of The Nativity.

On Thursday 12th December our KS2 classes put on a Carol Concert at St Thomas' Church.

On Friday 13th December we had our annual Christmas Jumper day.

On Wednesday 18th December all classes had the Christmas parties.

On Thursday 16th January Year 5 went on a trip to the British Museum.

On Tuesday 21st January Year 6 went on a trip to the Buddhist Centre.

On Thursday 23rd January Year 3 went on a trip to the British Museum.

From 10th-14th February the whole school worked on creating a life-sized model of King henry VIII, aided by a company called Arty Party. They also made busts of the heads of the six wives.

On Friday 14th February FOTA organised their annual Valentines Disco.

On Monday 24th February Years 2 and 5 had Fire Safety workshops.

On Friday 27th February the Book Fair came to Thorntree.

On Friday 21st March all our Thorntree children took part in the Comic Relief campaign, raising funds with a non-uniform day.

On Monday 24th March Year 6 went on a trip to The Imperial War Museum.

On Tuesday 25th March Year4 went on a trip to the Woolwich Temple.

On Wednesday 26th March Reception class went on a trip to the Royal Observatory.

On Thursday Key Stage ! held their Easter assembly.

On Tuesday 1st April the whole school enjoyed an Enrichment Afternoon.

On Thursday 3rd April Key Stage 2 held their Easter Assembly.

On Thursday 1st May Year 1 went on a river boat trip.
